Slower than slow!

I call myself the Queen of Slow Stitchers and although the title is self appointed, it's truly well deserved. I've been working on my Geisha all this week and I feel like I have nothing to show! I even went back and looked at the last picture I had taken of it and I was hard pressed to find any progress. It's so disheartening. Anyway, this is where I am with it now....

Doesn't look any different, does it? This one is fast becoming one of those projects that ends up in the back of a cupboard unloved and unwanted. Please feel free to lecture me on how I shouldn't give up on it.....a good kick up the you-know-what is probably required!

Anyway, here's a new crochet project that I started that I know I'll not give up on. This was a free pattern from red heart yarns and you can see it here. I decided to change the colours from the very pale colours they used as I have two grey cats who just love to lie on anything that they shouldn't! So here are the colours that I chose...

The pattern called for four plain colours, but I decided to substitute one of the colours for this variegated one as I thought the colours were gorgeous.

Mmmm, all my favourite colours in one ball! Here's a close-up of how the stitch looks when done...

My daughter decided to do the same pattern and she chose purples and pinks to use on her throw. And to prove my point about the cat sitting on anything they're not supposed to, here's the proof...

She knows a pretty blanket when she sees one!

Crocheting with four strands on wool and a rather large hook means that this grows quite quickly and certainly keeps you warm with that laying over your lap as you work....it's been rather nice working on this during the arctic blast we are experiencing just now. Too bad cross stitching doesn't keep me warm....maybe there would be more progress to show on my geisha!

Until next time...happy stitching!

Rhona

I think your geisha looks lovely. I know what you mean about stitching for ages and it looking no different, I've had my share of projects like that. Just keep at it and eventually it'll all come together and look amazing. Each little stitch is a stitch near to completion. I'm a slow stitcher too!

I need to learn how to crochet as that looks great, lovely colours that you've picked too!

I know how you feel about your Geisha, I have a UFO like that too :( I am going to try and get it finished this year... I have a new plan to spend one day a week working on a UFO & hope to see some progress eventually! Your yarn is gorgeous - red heart's ocean colorway was one of two variegated yarns that jumped in my case last time we were stateside, I LOVE it! Looking forward to seeing your finished throw (our cats favorite spot to sit right now is also on the blanket I'm working on!) happy crafting!

Your Geisha is beautiful, no matter how fast or slow you stitch her. I love the colors!

She will look amazing. I too am a slow stitcher. I am working on my first HAED and I worked out yesterday (and it was a good stitchy day) that I did just over 200 stitches, whereby other stitches can do a lot more than that. So don't give up... Even us snails will get to the end eventually:-)

I think your stitching looks great! So does the crocheting. I think stitching at times can be almost demoralizing. I love it and it gives me so much, but when you stitch for hours on end and feel like your eyeballs will bleed from staring at the linen for so long, only to come away with an inch of progress, it can be maddening. That's when it's nice to have other crafts to turn to! LOL I think it looks great.

Your stitching looks stunning! Love the colour & I know that design too!! I had it, started it & put it in the bin.... How crazy is that? Exactly for the same reason, it was so slow. So, don't do the same mistake as I did, keep calm & carry on. It is really really really nice, Mii xx

Lovely progress Rhona. I think we all go through spurts of slow stitching but I do see progress!! Lovely crochet and pretty colours!

Gorgeous afghan. That's where you put a crocheted blanket over you and then start stitching. I hide under blankets quite often.

Don't give up on your Geisha - keep imagining how fantastic it will look when it's done! The colours are amazing. Also love your wool choice for the crochet - very nice!
