Peace and quiet again!

Well my visitors have gone and although the seems quieter and rather empty without them, life seems just as chaotic and busy!

I have a couple of exciting things (well for me anyway!) to share.

The first one goes back to when I first started stitching  - I would buy a cross stitch magazine mainly if I liked the free cover kit that came with the magazine. I was always thought it would be really cool to be the person whose design was made as a kit. So, years later, guess who was asked to design the free kit? Yup....me!

Here's a picture of the kit with the page from the magazine...

World of Cross Stitching Issue 202
Immediate Media Co.

I love the little heart shaped hanger that came with it - isn't it cute? Now my dilemma is whether to stitch it or keep it in the package that it came in as I don't want to open it! Crazy uh?!!!

It has been wonderful to see how many people have already stitched the free kit and posted their pics to The World of Cross Stitching's Facebook page.  If you click on the "Recent posts by others" you'll be able to scroll down and see all the fabulous stitching by the WOXS readers.

Also in the same magazine were some designs I did as Post-it note covers....yeah, I've been busy!

World of Cross Stitching Issue 202
Immediate Media Co

There were six designs, although one seems to be missing from the shot here! If I have some spare time (wishful thinking!) I'd like to stitch these and make them as gifts for Christmas.

My other piece of exciting news is still to do with the cross stitch magazines. I am always amazed at the fantastic work that the commissioned stitchers do. I can't imagine how difficult it must be for these stitchers to stitch to a deadline...especially if the design is something that they really don't like. Anyway, these stitchers do a fantastic job bringing the designers work to life.  I have been really lucky to 'meet' some of these stitchers through Facebook. They are each and every one of them fantastic and talented people. One of these commissioned stitchers contacted me recently and it was wonderful to chat with her. As well as being a talented and speedy stitcher, she also has a website of designs she has charted from artists work. Please check out her website www.StitchingDreams.co.uk. You never know, you might find your next project! Heehee, I'm such an enabler, aren't I?!!!

Until next time...happy stitching!

Rhona

How exciting for you, Rhona. You should buy another mag so you have one to keep and one to stitch your project!

Cute designs as usual! I always enjoy the little humour you add to your posts! The idea of hanger is very sweet . I do have some small hangers that came in with my daughter's dress; I did not throw them away, just in case...but there is no heart on it. I guess I can crochet one on the top.

Hi Rhona, I love all your designs, and I'm so pleased you have managed to me and my fellow freelance stitchers that work for the magazines.

Congratulations Rhona ... that is an amazing achievment, a dream realised! I'm so happy for you. It looks terrific. You should buy another magazine so you have one kit to stitch and one to keep?

Clever you! I love the kit & the wee hanger, it's a great design! I have been saving all my cover kits for a few months now in anticipation of our possible move, but I really wanted to stitch this one as soon as it arrived here! Also hoping to make some of the Post it covers for Christmas, another great idea :) Thanks for the link, I will have to be very restrained when I go visit though as I already have more on my wish list than I can stitch in one lifetime! Have a great week, Helen

Wow! I did not realise this was your design. Was the main reason I started looking forward to the issue (when I have seen it advertised in the previous one). Looking forward to stitching it.
