Darjeeling!

So the little yellow Darjeeling tea block is now completed......

....and looking good! (Even if I say so myself!!!)

The next block has been started....but.... a couple of problems already...

Problem number one.....I have run out of the dark brown colour of the tea :(  Don't you just hate when that happens?  So, the kit gives you DMC equivalents of the threads.....but.....the colour isn't the same as the thread in the kit....so, do I email the company and wait for some replacement threads or do I unpick the dark brown and re-stitch it with the thread in my stash....mmmm, can't decide what to do.

Problem number two.....the dark purple seems to be just a bit too dark for my liking. So, do I do some more unpicking and swap a lighter shade in or do I just trust that it will look ok once the back stitching is completed? Mmmmm, what to do?

On to some good news....I finally got round to making a card with the little birdie stitching.......remember the aperture had been cut upside down......

Ta-da....finished!

This little cutie will be winging it's way over to my son in California! Don't think this little fella will be needing his scarf over there :) Wish I could hand deliver it.

So, I have some decisions to make  with the tea sampler....lets hope I decide wisely, and don't regret my decisions! If you hear any muttering and moaning, it's likely to be me complaining about all the unpicking!

Until next time....happy stitching!

Rhona

Hello, me I would pick out the dark brown and redo but I would leave the purple and finish the tea cup. You just might like it when done. you are doing a great job on the tea cups. good luck hugs

My only suggestion with your problems is to pick whatever makes you happy. Otherwise it will bother you. The other tea block finish is beautiful. Just LOVE your adorable penguin.

Very beautiful stitch
It is a very big problem when floss are finishing. I hope you can find the perfect colour. Happy stitch. Ciao Gio

Oh I love your little card, that looks so cute!!
Another lovely cup of tea finish on your sampler.
Sorry to read about the troubles with the threads & colours.
I would make a point to email them & point out I have run out of thread and that the equivalent is no match...
I would also trust the design. If you like how it looks on the cover picture of the kit, it might all come together nicely with the backstitch and everything else... but that's just my advice! Do whatever suit you best ;)

Lovely winter stitching Rhona. I would retitch the tea project id I were You. But of course You will do what suits you the most. Just enjoy your project - that's the most important thing!

Well I agree with Lynda Ruth! I think the purples are lovely and can only be nicer still with backstitch. Normally I would email the company regarding thread but I would be too impatient to wait for the Christmas post!
Love what you did with the cute penguin too!

The Christmas card came out perfect. So cute! Congrats on another finish. I hope you can still contact the company for the thread being it's the holidays. It's still a stunning piece:)

I would definitely use the DMC for the brown. The purple looks fine though. I'm just starting a Dimensions kit and the thread quantities are very strange compared to the list on the chart. Luckily I'm a parsimonious Stitcher so I should have enough and some left over!

I'd just replace the brown as what you get sent may be different anyway. Also no advice on the purple. Your cross stitch is looking gorgeous

Love the tea sampler!~ always frustrating when a kit doesn't have enough floss in it, though. A lot of times if you email them or call they can send you a bit of the color you've run out of so that it will match up.

I think it looks great! I adore the penguin :) I would use something from your stash and just stitch it in without frogging to see how it looks. Who knows? It could look nice and swirly like tea! I like the purple. I'm sure you've decided by now but everything looks great!
