Tis the season of ...seed beads!

I have seed beads everywhere! Luckily, I don't mind working with them....except when you drop the container with them in and they end up all over the floor!

So my first project with seed beads to show you, is a cute little Christmas card that I started stitching on my long flight back to the US....

.... a cute little button, some fraying of the edges and the aforementioned seed beads....

...means one adorable Christmas card!

This was a little kit that came with the December issue of CrossStitcher magazine that I snagged while back in the UK. Oh my goodness.....I love the UK cross stitching magazines....and the prices of them compared to here in the US.

The next project uses not only seed beads but sequins too....got to get that Christmas sparkle! I haven't managed to get as much done on this Christmas stocking as I had hoped to......it's really hard to stitch a secret gift for someone who lives with you!

Each piece has to be cut out, embroidered and then have the sequins and seed beads attached before being sewn onto the main part of the stocking. It's a very time consuming process.....

Some pieces have to be stuffed as you attach them so the end result is 3D.....

....don't you just love those hamster like cheeks?!!!!

The one thing that I have to do is buy another beading needle as the one that came with the kit is looking a bit worse for wear and is far from straight....I have a feeling that it won't last long! Keep your fingers crossed for me that the craft shop stocks those super skinny beading needles!

Until next time....happy stitching (and beading)!

Wow Rhona, your stocking is so cute! That's going to make a great gift. Most stitching supplies are much cheaper in the US, it's interesting to read that our magazines in the UK are cheaper. Your card is lovely.

Lots of beads 😀 I used to do beading when I was a kid but stopped because I got tired of picking the mess up from the floor every time I'd drop them!that is a cute little card.

I just LOVE that kit and I've been looking for the magazine at multiple stores. Hopefully I'll find it sometime because this is too cute not to do. Yours is even more excuse to want it. I just love your stocking too. A lot of work but looks worth it in the end. I've broke 2 needles now working on my Christmas Jars.

Rhona, beading needles often CURVE. It's just dependent on the way you use them. So don't count it out yet!!! Mine only has a little curve, but my friend Julie has beading needles that curve about 45 degrees. (Yes, I HAVE seen her work with them. It's amazing!!!) Anyways, I love your little Christmas card. It's darling. And if you HAVEN'T dropped a pack of beads on the floor, I highly recommend that you DON'T. They're a PITA to clean up. A total mess.

Lovely stitching. I hav eto admit to loathing adding beads, I do it when I have to but often put it off as long as I can sometimes leaving things unfinished until I can bear it no more. x

Rhona, Your card is adorable!! Love the beading on the tree. It must be a very special person that receives this card! The stocking is another laborious project but worth it! He is going to be adorable!! Love those cheeks!

Cute card! And the stocking is cute as well. I have two sizes of those beading needles, they are too delicate while using.

Oh, I’ve always wanted to do one of those felt Christmas projects! If you have a vacuum with a hose attachment, rubber band a knee high hose stocking over the end, leave the foot end loose so it gets sucked up inside the tube a bit...vacuum up those seed beads!
