Searching through the sewing basket!

After finishing the seashells design (more on that later) I decided to go through my sewing basket and organize it (not exactly one of my strengths!) and work guilt free on a WIP . Now depending on how you look at it, this WIP could (or should) be classed as a UFO, yes, this one has been languishing in the sewing basket for a while.  So either way, WIP or UFO, this ones back on the q-snaps and getting some much needed love and attention.

Prepare yourselves for a blast form the past. This is how it looked last time I did any work on it.....may moons ago....

....and here is how it looks today...

It's a dull and dreary day here which makes getting pictures really hard, especially when photographing black fabric! As I've said many times before, I'm not a big fan of stitching on black fabric, but I do love the finished effect.

I do have another start, which is guilt free as it's a design for publication. Unfortunately I can't show you the design, so I've tried to be a bit creative here and  just show some of it....

.....it's just a tease until I can reveal it all!

So, back to the seashells design that I finished....I realized that I didn't give any details about the kit, so here goes...

The kit is by Design Works and the designer is none other than the fabulous Joan Elliott.
Finished size is 11 x 14 inches
Stitched on 14 count aida.
Black and white chart

One thing that I was very happy about was that there was more than enough threads supplied in the kit....here's the threads that were left over....

And as we all know, that doesn't happen very often, so kudos to Design Works for looking after their customers and supplying enough threads.

Until next time....happy stitching!

Oh I love this beautiful cardinal so I'm glad to see him back out. Can't wait to see your new design. Still in love with the seashells design. Now I'm not surprised. I always seem to like Joan Elliott's works.

Your cardinal really does look superb on the black and well worth the effort. Tell me though, would you prefer to stitch on black or tackle all the blue of Love Birds again?! :)

I love your cardinal. I hope you get lots done it while it's on the Q-Snaps. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your new project, too.

I love cardinal designs of all kinds and think they really pop beautifully on black fabric. It will be stunning. Love the peak into your other stitch...it looks really cute. And your shells are beautiful. RJ@stitchingfriendsforever

The seashells design is so lovely, but I haven't been able to find any of the kits available for sale. Would you be willing to send the chart my way, or to host a giveaway for it?

The seashells and the cardinal look fabulous! I'm not much of a fan of stitching on black fabric, either, but I agree that the effect is amazing.
