Slogging along! :)

It's a good job that this kitty design is so cute and absolutely perfect for my friend, otherwise it would have been in the bin by now!

I know last week that I said I was really wanting to get back to stitching the cat design, but there's something about the chart that's driving me insane. Honestly....the whole thing was almost dumped into the trash can as I was hating it so much. I think it might be the combination of symbols that are used, or maybe the symbols along with the thick back stitch lines.....whatever it is, I hate this chart. I find it quite hard on my eyes. Here's what I mean....

The cat in the design looks just like my son and his girlfriend's cat and originally I thought that I might even stitch it later in the year for the two of them.....but, nope....that ain't happening now! Once will be more than enough for this design.

I am plugging away at the design and can now finally see the kitty's ear and part of the face beginning to emerge. Here's a before and after...

All I can say is....thank goodness for project rotations....this week we bring back Etudes aux FraisesAhhh, heaven!

Here's another set of designs that are on my 'must-get-round-to-stitching-these' list (as if the list isn't long enough already!).......my fairy door design in the World of Cross Stitching magazine...

World of Cross Stitching Issue 253
Immediate Media Co.

These little doors were such fun to design......I wanted to do more .......and I still might! These are in issue 253, which was out a few weeks ago in the UK. The magazine takes a long time to get here unfortunately.

Until next time....happy stitching!

I saw your fairy doors, they are lovely! The cat design looks lovely and you're making great progress but that chart looks like a nightmare! One of the reasons I like Bothy Threads so much is they provide two versions of the chart, one with backstitch and the other without. So much easier! But it is a lovely design and hopefully it will get easier as you get used to it.

I'm a new Follower. I just came across your blog this evening. I adore the cat piece, although I can understand your frustration with the chart. Hope things start to go more smoothly once you get further along with it. Those fairy doors are absolutely adorable. I may have to pick up that magazine.

Good for you for still sticking with stitching the cat design. I agree the chart is a mess.

The cat chart is certainly crazy to look at. Maybe it is the symbols that were chosen. Or maybe it is the crazy amount of backstitch over top. Great idea to put it away for a little while.

The cat pattern will be worth the effort. It looks cute.
Issue 253, I'll have to keep an eye out for that.

That cat is very cute but that chart is diabolical!!! Could you scan it, enlarge it & work from it on your laptop? Hubbie has put some charts I have struggled with on my tablet & being able to enlarge it has really helped. Enjoy stitching your strawberries! Your fairy doors are on my to stitch list too - they were my favourite design from that issue :-) have a lovely week, Helen

What a hideous chart! My solution would be to photocopy and colour in each symbol in a different colour as you stitch. So you end up with a psychedelic version of the design!

The Cat Project is so cute and so adorable....what I would do if I were you to make it easier on yourself is to do a 10 x 10 block at one time and back stitch as you go along. This way it won't be so hard on you. Also too I would work on another project as well at the same time.

Happy Stitching
