It's a free SAL!

Stitch-a-longs are wonderful and even better if they are free....we all love free stuff (especially stitching stuff!) don't we? I stumbled on a beautiful and free stitch-a-long and one of the great things about this one is that it last all year long! Normally I would run a mile from anything that lasts that long as my interest usually wains half way through, but this SAL (stitch-along) takes only a couple of hours per week. Even I can do that :) Of course, I'm always late to the party, so I had to catch up....but it was so easy to do. Here's me all caught up to week four...

I chose a pale blue 14 count aida that I had in my stash and used a DMC blue variegated thread that was also languishing in my thread box unused and unloved (but not anymore!)

Here's a close up of weeks one and two boxes....

...and then weeks three and four...

...week five will go in the last box....

So, where can you find this wonderful stitch along? Its by Peppermint Purple and you can find it on Peppermint Purple's Facebook page.  There's also a SAL group where you can see all the wonderful different colour combinations people have used. Each section is released on a Wednesday...suddenly Wednesdays are fun again!

Since these black work squares don't take up too much time (even if you are playing catch-up!) I had enough time to start another little design. This is a Margaret Sherry cutie from World Of Cross Stitching magazine......

So now I'm feeling all happy in my little stitching corner!

Until next time....happy stitching!

Drab coloured threads.

After the bright coloured threads I used for the Tomte bookmarks, I'm back to using dark, drab coloured threads....

....but they are making such a pretty picture! I'm back working on the wolves design. This is where I was last time I showed you a picture of it....

....and here's where I am now....

...lots of blending colours to make a beautiful design that doesn't look drab at all!

Until next time....happy stitching!

Starting the new year the way I ended the year....

.....with another gnome!

This last book mark was for the hubby who is a New York Rangers fan, so I changed the colours  to match his team.....

After stitching four of these bookmarks, I am officially done with gnomes. At least for now!!!

There was no sewing involved in making these bookmarks....everything was glued! I decided to share with you a tip that I learned years ago, for storing  tubes or bottles of glues so that they always work without you having to shake them like mad and then end up getting a big squelch of glue when it does finally decide to make an appearance from the bottle (sound familiar?).....

...leave them with the tips down (with the caps firmly on!) inside an empty jar. This way the glue is already at the tip and easy to use.  Big bottles of glue can be stored the same way....

A simple but effective way....how do you store your glues?

And finally I want to share with you some cute little egg cosies that I designed for World of Cross Stitching magazine....

Quite literally 'eggs and soldiers'! Not sure if anyone other than Brits would understand eggs and soldiers, so click here  to find out about eggs and soldiers. And in the unlikely event that you need a recipe you can find one here .  Anyhoo, they would certainly brighten up breakfast...or lunch!

Until next time.....happy stitching!
