When a project is calling your name!

These new projects sure can shout your name loudly! This particular project has to be done by a specific date...and since it's a wedding sampler, it really does have to be done by a specific date! I managed to talk myself out of finishing off the wolves design before starting this one....not that there was much argument, or in fact, much talking! This wedding sampler, with all it's wonderful colours, was practically launching itself into the sewing basket!

This design may look familiar as I stitched it last year for my friend's daughter. Luckily I had matched the threads in the kit with DMC threads as I knew I would want to re-stitch  the design. Here's what it will look like when I finish it.....

The only difference is that this time I'm stitching it on white aida as I didn't have any cream aida in my stash.

Wednesday, which has become my favourite day of the week,  saw the release of week eight of Peppermint Purple's year long blackwork SAL. Another lovely design was added....

The last few weeks have been hard to get a picture as it's been so grey and dull. Today, it's hard to get a picture because it's so bright!

In case anyone wants to join in, the patterns are all free and can be found on the Peppermint Purple Facebook page.

Until next time....happy stitching!

Feeling the blues....

....and loving them! The blue variegated thread is looking wonderful on the Peppermint Purple SAL......

...shame the blue aida isn't showing up as blue though!  Here's a close up of all those wonderful  blackwork designs....

You can find the Peppermint Purple SAL on Facebook if you want to join in.....anyone else doing it?

Winter's Lace hasn't been neglected this week either, although there hasn't been as much progress as I would have liked. Life has a habit of interrupting our stitching time.  But each length of thread stitched means I'm a bit closer to being finished, so I can't complain....

....it's really taking shape.

Until next time.....happy stitching!

I've been a busy bee!

I feel like I'm on a roll....I've managed to get a few , albeit little, things done!

First of all, I finished the Margaret Sherry kit. Although I ran out of thread from the kit, I was able to use some DMC threads that I had in my stash. Although it didn't match exactly, since it was for the lid of the box and the label, it was away from the rest of the yellow so the difference wasn't noticeable....or at least, not too much!

...and the wonders of back stitching....

.......the little kitty is brought to life!

Week six of the Peppermint Purple SAL arrived and that section was duly stitched...

Unfortunately the pale blue aida doesn't show up as blue on the pictures. The variegated threads look wonderful on this design....here's a close up so you can get a better idea of how they look....

And if that wasn't enough, I managed to get a little bit more of the wolves design stitched too...

Stitching the pale blue of the sky is a bit boring, but it doesn't require too much counting or attention so it's great to do while watching the TV and some things, like  ice hockey (big fan here!), have to be watched and not just listened to :)

I'm hoping that this week I'll continue to be as productive. I'm off now to tape the Margaret Sherry design in the card to have a complete finished finish :)

Until next time....happy stitching!

That 'Oh, no" moment!

Don't you just hate that moment when you realize that you don't have enough thread to finish off your project? And when it's a kit you desperately cross your fingers that the thread in the kit is dmc,....and then cross your toes in the hope that you have it in your stash! And you can probably guess from all that, that I have ran out of thread for the Margaret Sherry kit that I started last week.....

Pale yellow is the colour in question. I used what was in the kit down to the last itty-bitty scraps to see if I could make it work. sadly, there is the top of the box lid to do and also the label. I  might alter the colour of the label and do it white if I can't match the pale yellow.

Wednesday's are now something to look forward to with the new pattern from Peppermint Purple being released in the year long stitch-a-long.  A couple of hours stitching and I'm all done with week 5 and looking forward to week 6.....

This is definitely the kind of SAL that I can enjoy as each piece doesn't take too long to tackle.

Anyway, I'm off to hunt through my thread stash to see if I have the elusive pale yellow thread....keep your fingers crossed for me!

Until next time.....happy stitching!
