From pale and subtle to bright and bold!

It's been hot and humid here which makes doing almost anything really hard. Stitching and crocheting (especially a blanket!) don't really go well with the humidity. The threads and needle (or wool and hook!) become sticky and don't go through the fabric (or previous crocheted rows) smoothly. So there's not much progress to show this week.

The wolves design probably doesn't look different from the last time you saw it....half cross stitch using one strand of pale blue doesn't really show up on the pale grey aida, and the camera certainly doesn't pick up the subtle detail but at least I can mark it off on the chart and feel like I'm making progress...

...more trees and the start of another wolf...

...and like those wolves, I keep plodding along!

Late in the evening, when it's a tad cooler, I try to do ate least one row of crocheting. This is such a bright, colourful blanket and I can't help but smile when I start working on it....the colours are so cheerful!

What a contrast to the subtle cool colours of the wolves!

Until next time....happy stitching!

Happy dance finish!

This happy dance has been a long time coming....and not because I wasn't stitching fast enough but because I ran out of thread to finish off the back stitching. Covid19 has a lot to answer for! Anyway, here's the wedding sampler in  all it's glory....

Here's some close ups of the details...

Pretty colours...

French knots....

More french knots...

Lots of swirls..

......back stitching is a must for this design!

I'm happy to have finished this design and can now pop it in the post so it can get to Scotland in time for the wedding, which luckily for me, (but not the bride and groom) had to be re-scheduled because of Covid19. Fingers crossed there's no more delays and the happy couple can, quite literally,  have their 'Happily Ever After'

Until next time...happy stitching!

Stay safe, stay well.

Calorie free ice-cream!

I'm back with a quick update on the ice-cream stitching from last week, which looked like this...

....and with some back stitching, it now looks like this...

Looks good enough to eat, doesn't it?!!

On the chart that I designed for the magazine I had added a greeting but I haven't stitched it as I'm not sure how I'm going to finish this....maybe a small pillow....or a card....or not! Who knows. Watch this space  :)

Until next time....stay safe, stay well, and happy stitching!

Is it too early to mention Christmas stitching? :)

Gosh...what a week it's been! Do you ever get those weeks when you feel like you've been really busy and don't have much to show for it? That was my week last week, but I do, thankfully, have quite a lot of pictures to show you. So what have I been working on? First off, I've been plodding on with Winter's Lace....

I feel like I have been stitching this one for ages but never really seem to make much progress...

I thought it was time for a small break and do a quick stitch to have the satisfaction of having a finish. I decided to stitch one of my own designs that had appeared in The World Of Cross Stitching  magazine a while back and seemed perfect for a warm summer evening....

Not as good as eating a real ice cream, but a lot less calories!

Just a wee bit of the ice-cream to finish and the rest of the border to do....and of course, the back stitching. I love these quick finishes....don't you?

This month's edition of Just CrossStitch arrived in the mail box with two of my design in it. First one is the summer sunflower...

...it can be stitched and framed as above, or made as a coaster ....

This edition of the magazine is also the Christmas ornament preview and my little candy cane holding gingerbread girl can be found in it .....

...and she can also be used as a place card for your Christmas dinner table with your guests name written onto a craft stick...

....how cute is that?  I'm going to have to start stitching them now so that I have them all done in time for Christmas 😃

Until next time....stay safe, stay well, and happy stitching!
