Live Simply

Can you believe it....I have another finish! How unlike me!

I don't think I have ever had so many finishes so quickly!  These last few designs are quite small, but what a great feeling it is to be getting so many things completed.

This is a kit that I bought last year (another bargain bought with a 40% off coupon!) I adore the sentiment of this design and the single daisy is perfect - love it! And best of all....I didn't run out of threads! :) I was going to change the lettering as I wasn't too keen on the style, but after trying a couple of different styles, I decided that the designer was right...this style works best. So now, what to do with it? I think a simple wall hanging would be best....but I may change my mind!

Anyhoo, on to the travelling pattern.....it's almost time for the travelling pattern to move on to the next stitcher.

This is the design...

If you want to add your name to the list and possibly be the next stitcher of the travelling pattern, please leave a comment on the post here. I'll announce the winner on Saturday March 1st.

Until next time...happy stitching!

Who will be next to stitch the travelling pattern?

There's still time to add your name if you want to be the next stitcher in the travelling pattern's adventure around the world!

Here's my finished piece. It's stitched on pale pink aida, but no matter where or how I tried to take the picture, I couldn't get the fabric looking like it does in real life....typical! Now I just have to decide how to finish the design...cushion...wall hanging...any suggestions?

If you would like to have your name added to the hat (or in this case, a ceramic bowl!) please leave a comment  so I know you are interested in being the next stitcher. Be sure to leave an email address if I can't email you from your blog link. Remember, if your name is pulled from the hat /bowl you have to be able to commit to stitching this design within two weeks, offer it on your blog to other stitchers and then send the pattern on its travels to the next stitcher. Easy peasy.... and fun!

Please comment before the end of the month...I'll announce the winner on March 1st 2014.

Until next time...happy stitching!

The Travelling Pattern....where will it go next?

Ahh, the joys of having to start a new project!!! Yes, I've had to start a new a new project....it's in the rules...you have to stitch it within two weeks....so what else could I do but get this kitted up and start stitching! Heehee....life is hard! :)

So, the traveling pattern started originally with Mii  at Mii Stitch and came to me from Barb at Blissfully Stitching  who very kindly added some extra goodies to the package....

Thanks Barb....I love everything! The little heart shaped charms, which are just a bit too small to see on the picture, say 'made with love'....how cute is that?

Anyhoo,  since I don't have any of the overdyed threads that the sample is stitched with I had to use the DMC equivalents which are marked on the chart. I decided that I wasn't loving the colour choices and decided to pick my own colours. Here's the colours that were recommended...

...and here's my choice of colours...

...a slightly softer, more pastel selection...and with a baby pink aida which is barely visible on the photo.

This is quite a quick-to-stitch design, and here's where I am after a couple of evenings stitching...

...I do own an iron, although you would never know from this picture!

So...onto the best part....who'd like to be next to stitch this design?

Yup, the travelling pattern needs to be on it's merry way to some other lucky stitcher. The rules are quite simple....

  • If you are the next person to receive the travelling pattern, you have to be able to stitch it within two weeks of receiving it.
  • You must  pass the chart on to another stitcher and be willing to post it anywhere in the world.

Sooo, please comment on this post if you'd like to be in with  chance of being the next stitcher. Please be sure to add an email address if I can't email you from your blog link. You have until the end of this month to comment and I will announce the winner on March 1st 2014....good luck!

Until next time...happy stitching!

Snow and stitching.

Another large snowfall from this last storm has left us with about a foot and a half of the dreaded white stuff. Luckily we still have power which so many are having to manage without. I can't imagine how hard it must be for these poor folks. It's definitely a time to stay inside and a great excuse to get lots of stitching done.....like I need an excuse!

So while I was waiting for the replacement threads for Simple Treasures, I started a new project....yeah, I know I have a few UFOs and WIPs,  but who can resist the temptation of a new kit? :) Not me. Here's my new project in all it's unironed glory!

It's stitching up really quickly....and I hope I'm not tempting fate by saying this....but.... there seems to be enough threads to complete the design!

Until next time....happy stitching!

Don't you just hate it when.....

...progress comes to a screeching halt? I'm soooo close to finishing Simple Treasures but I have run out of yet another thread colour....and of course, none of the threads I have in my stash match.  I guess Dimensions must use their own threads. Sigh. Let's hope their customer service is as quick at sending out threads this week as it was last week!

Not too much to do....

The back stitching is worth the hassle. Doesn't the seahorse look amazing!

Love it, love it, love it and can't wait to complete it.

Here's something that I did manage to complete this week...

 ...a cute little scissor holder...

A big thank you to Bronwyn from Red Brolly for sharing her pattern You can find the pattern and instruction here.   I used French knots instead of beads as I couldn't be bothered faffing around finding beads and having them scatter everywhere, which always happens when I work with beads. The result is pretty much the same, but I'm not vacuuming up beads for the next three weeks! :)

And now on to some more cuties (well I think they're cute anyway!)....

...mug rugs! These designs are in this months World of Cross Stitching magazine (issue 213) and are perfect for stitching for a Mother's day gift....just don't let her get tea stains on them! ;)

Until next time...happy stitching!
