TUSAL

Guess I must have been quite productive this month as my little ort jar seems to have quite the collection of threads...

And with the end in sight for Simple Treasures (well, for the cross stitching part...the back stitch is another story!), I have been stitching every spare moment that I have had.  Another sea shell has magically appeared...

With all the snow and freezing cold weather we have been dealing with, I'd love to be able to walk into that beach scene and feel the sand between my toes and the sun on my face...oh, if only! :) Roll on summer.

Until next time...happy stitching!

It's amazing what you can do....

...when you resolve to stay away from Pinterest!!!

So after my last post about not going on to Pinterest until I have made something, I can tell you, quite proudly, that I have been rather productive! Who'd have guessed it?!!

So I have been beavering away on Simple Treasures, and it now looks like this...

Unfortunately I have run out of one of the colours! Don't you just hate when that happens? I emailed Dimensions crafts and they responded straight away and are sending some replacement threads. Fingers crossed the threads don't take too long to arrive. I do have quite a bit of the shell on the right hand side to so, so it's not as if I'll be sitting twiddling my fingers with nothing to do while I await the arrival of the thread.

So, onto the making of some of my crafty pins from Pinterest.  Here's what I made...

It's just a recycled sweetie jar (with  a new supply of sweeties in it!) with a little pair of felt skates for decoration.

Simple to make and cute too! (well I think so anyway!)

So after all that being good, I now have to admit to being a bit naughty!  I blame it all on being Scottish....I just can't resist a bargain, and when I saw these kits with 40% off and shipping at only 1 cent...yes you read correctly, 1 single cent....I just had to get the old credit card out!

I also bought a small set of q-snaps.....which are AWESOME!!! I wish I'd bought a larger set. Next time they are on sale they will be in my basket and winging their way to my sewing basket! :)

The wedding design will be stitched and framed for my friend when she gets married this summer. The lighthouse one is for me ....I think with all the snow and cold weather we've been having  that I have cabin fever and just need something summery to do. So you could say that it's for medicinal purposes, kind of an anti-winter anti-depressant! Ok, I know it's a terrible excuse.... I just loved the design, and hey, I've been good and it was on sale!

Until next time....happy stitching!

Many a true word spoken in jest!

So there I was, all comfy in my chair spending my usual inordinate amount of time perusing , ahem, researching on Pinterest, pinning away like a mad woman when I came across this....

...it made me laugh and I was just about to hit the 'pin it' button, when it struck me......yeah, I should stop pinning and start making! Duh! I have so many crafts, recipes, and cross stitching things pinned but I very rarely get round to actually making anything that I have pinned.

NOT ANYMORE.

From now on, I'm limiting my time on Pinterest and have decided that I can only pin things after I have made something....anything!

So here's what I made.....

This was from the Homemaker magazine issue 8 that I bought when I was in the UK (yeah, it's been sitting there all this time...I do feel guilty, honestly!)

Anyhoo, or should that be twit-twoo? I filled the owl with sand so that I could use him (or maybe her?!!) as a doorstop. I was quite pleased with it....but one of the cats wasn't as happy about our new addition as I was, as you can see if you look at the owls ear in the left hand corner of the picture. My usually not-so-brave kitty suddenly became this fierce warrior cat and pounced on the owl and ripped it's ear. Of course, as the poor owl fell backward, the cat decided to return to her normal fraidy-cat temperament and ran and hid under the bed!  A little first aid should have this owl back to being functional again and not leaking sand everywhere!

So I can now, quite categorically, say that I stopped pinning and made something.

Until next time...happy stitching!

From UFO back to WIP!!! :)

I'm not sure how long you have to leave a WIP untouched before it becomes a UFO....are there hard and fast rules? ....and does it really matter?  Simple Treasures has been my on going project for what seems like forever. It was rudely interrupted and usurped by some Christmas designs and various other projects that took my fancy, but it's now back firmly in the category of WIP.....and I'm determined to get it finished soon. Here's where I was with it the last time I showed it...

and after some stitching over the past week, here's where I am now....

....with LOTS of back stitching to do! Anyway, I'm determined to get this design completed quickly as I have LOADS of projects that I'd like to start and I don't want this design back in the UFO category!

Until next time...happy stitching!

Happy New Year!

Jim Hunt Illustrations

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year!

I didn't get any stitching or crafting done over the festive period, but that doesn't matter as I had a wonderful time with family and friends....lots of wonderful memories created!

So...the New Year also means new TUSAL.  For those of you who have no idea what TUSAL means (it is a bit confusing until it's explained!) click here for an explanation and to sign up to join the fun.

Here's my jar of orts....

There seems to be quite a lot of threads there so I might be cheating and showing two months worth of threads....I'm sure I must have missed the last ort posting!

Here's my collection of orts for all of 2013....

...heehee....looks more like the leaning tower of orts!

Anyway....I'm off to write my 'casual promises' ....be prepared for the new and improved me! lol

Until next time...happy stitching!
